2 new Dell R620s, ESXi 5 U2 (build 914586), installed to internal SD card (2GB)
Also present in the server are 2 x 600GB Disks for test VMs, etc. When the hosts are added to vCenter, (5.0U2 build 913577) they complain about not having persistent storage.
In the past (ESXi4 hosts) I have created a datastore called '<hostname> - Local' with no problems.
This time, I try and create a datastore on the local drive and I get an error:"An error occurred while communicating with the remote host"
error stack: "Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "datastoreSystem-5248" on vCenter Server "vcenter02" failed."
Shortly afterwards, the host temporarily d/c in vCenter.
I found kb 200738 which suggests that one cause could be that the volume is > 2TB-512bytes. This is not the case.
The 'review the current disk layout' screen of the add storage wizard reports the capacity as 558.38GB and available as 556.33 GB.

Before I raise a support call, is there something obvious I've missed?
This occurs on 2 servers configured identically.
